PREVIEW: Luna: Bring a little magic to your Easter weekend

Next weekend, the beautiful collaboration from Theatr Iolo and Theatre Hullabaloo returns to Cardiff ready to bring a little sparkle amongst the inevitable April showers.  Literally children’s theatre at its finest, Luna is full of magic and music and after making my ten favourites of 2013 it would only be right to check it out for a second time this year!

Billy and his favourite toy, Pig are meant to be ready to sleep, but of course they’re ready for every adventure, and when Luna arrives one night from another world, she soon helps them to see the scary darkness that night time brings in a different way.  Wonderfully designed and cleverly devised, the lighting, costumes and characterisation of the small cast are enchanting to watch and you definitely don’t need to be under the age of 5 to believe in the magic.

Like Luna herself, this show is a shining star amongst children’s theatre and the young and the young at heart will be captivated from their first steps in to the auditorium.  I can not wait to see it once more!

Full review to follow. Luna is at Chapter Arts Centre from the 18th – 21st April and on tour across the UK.  For full tour dates see Theatr Iolo’s website or follow either company on Twitter @theatriolo @hullabalootweet
